What a contrast this pleasant country estate presents to the battlefields of WWI! In the background to the left is some sort of summer house or gazebo, and the ground is sprinkled with tiny wildflowers. He is armed with a sabre complete with a bullion portapee (sabre knot), and he carries a riding crop in his right hand.
